At Tigerlamb, we believe in the power of beauty and the importance of sustainability. As a responsible salon, we have taken significant steps to minimise our environmental impact and become a member of the Sustainable Salons movement. We are proud to announce that we have on top of our accreditation as a Gold Salon Select by the Australian Hairdressing Council, we are also now officially a member of the Sustainable Salons movement, reflecting our commitment to creating a more sustainable future.
We would like to share with you, our valued clients the measures we have implemented to become a sustainable salon and the positive changes we are making for our planet.
Recycling and Waste Reduction:
As a member of Sustainable Salons, we are dedicated to reducing waste and recycling as much salon waste as possible. Through this program, we are able to recycle nearly 95% of our salon waste, including paper, metals, plastics, tools, hair, cartridges, batteries, coffee pods, and chemicals. By separating these materials for proper collection and disposal, we ensure that they are diverted from landfills and given a new life through recycling or repurposing.
Green Policies and Practices:
We have integrated sustainability into our daily operations, embracing practices that reduce our environmental footprint. For instance, we use biodegradable capes and towels, eliminating the need for laundry powder and conserving water. Our basins are fitted with water-saving eco heads, and we collect color waste to prevent harmful chemicals from entering the environment.
Energy Efficiency and Conservation:
Reducing energy consumption is another vital aspect of our sustainability journey. We set our air conditioner to 24 degrees Celsius, striking a balance between comfort and energy efficiency. Additionally, we embrace natural ventilation by keeping our doors open whenever possible, minimizing the need for air conditioning. By implementing these measures, we aim to reduce our carbon footprint and contribute to a more sustainable future.
Supporting Local Community and Initiatives:
At Tigerlamb, sustainability extends beyond our salon doors. We actively participate in community initiatives that align with our values. For instance, we donate recycled materials such as glass jars, tins, and cans to local schools and kindergartens, promoting a circular economy. We distribute magazines to the Royal Brisbane Hospital each month, providing reading materials for patients while reducing waste. Moreover, we actively sponsor and support charitable events, including the RiseUp Australia Domestic and Family Violence Charity event and parade, making a positive impact on our local community.
Creating a Sustainable Sanctuary:
We believe that a sustainable salon should also offer a serene and environmentally friendly space for our clients. Our salon is thoughtfully designed with earthy materials like solid spotted gum, leather, and stone, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Natural light floods our salon, boosting moods, increasing creativity, and reducing stress. To further enhance air quality, we have installed an air purifier and adorned our space with lush plants that release oxygen and filter out pollutants, ensuring our clients enjoy a healthy and rejuvenating experience.
